If the number plates of your vehicle have been cloned, you may apply for a new vehicle registration number by transmitting a police report of the complaint filed.

 

How do I apply for this online?

The application is to be done online. If you need help, you can go to a Digital Contact Point with your supporting documents and someone there will assist you.

1. Log on to FranceConnect
2. Click "Registration"
3. Select the "Make another request" option
4. You must then select the "Declare a change in the status of my vehicle" category, then "Vehicle withdrawal or return to circulation, or number plate cloning"

Theft of number plates does not justify the allocation of a new vehicle registration number, you need to provide proof that your vehicle registration number has been cloned.
 

As such, you must transmit:

• An application for return to circulation (vehicle registration application) (Cerfa 13750)
• An application for the withdrawal from circulation (Cerfa 13756)
• Police report of the complaint filed

You do not have to pay regional tax for this procedure.

You only need to pay the postage (€2.76) for the new vehicle registration document.

Here are the steps you can take to declare a vehicle registration scam:

• Check the information: Make sure you have all the documents and proof of the transaction with the professional.
• File a complaint: You can file a complaint with law enforcement (police or gendarmerie) to declare the scam. You can view the list of police stations near you via "My safety" site.
