Request a tax receipt and then register a vehicle
For this service, you may also apply online in English (en anglais)
This procedure allows you to obtain a tax receipt and then apply for registration. It is intended for both individuals and businesses importing a new or second-hand vehicle from a European Union country other than France.
Information
This online procedure is currently being tested. It should only be used if the purchaser of the vehicle (the person whose name appears on the foreign purchase invoice) is resident or has their registered office in one of the following eight departments: Alpes-Maritimes (06), Loire-Atlantique (44), Nord (59), Moselle (57), Pas-de-Calais (62), Bas-Rhin (67), Rhône (69) and Paris (75).
If the purchaser’s place of residence or registered office is located in another department, the application for a tax receipt must be made to the relevant tax office. You can find the contact details for the relevant office on the impots.gouv.fr website.
- If you are a professional in the motor trade acting as a buyer-dealer, the application for registration can be made at a later stage, once the final purchaser is known (this new procedure replaces the procedure for “Only request a tax receipt”).
- If you are a private individual or a business not acting as a buyer-dealer, you may proceed with a registration application as soon as the tax receipt has been obtained.
