Vehicle registration processing time / cost

Once you have completed your application online, processing can take several days and up to several weeks in the most complicated cases. The time it takes also depends on the period of the year: a high volume of applications may mean longer processing time.
 

We advise you to track the progress of your application on a regular basis by logging on to your ANTS (France Titres) account, via the "View your vehicle registration procedures" section.
 

The officer in charge of your application may need to ask you for additional documents.
 

Reminder: when you sent your application, you received a provisional registration document (CPI). This document enables you to drive your vehicle for a month pending receipt of your permanent vehicle registration document.

A simulator rolled out by the French Ministry for the Interior enables you to estimate how much most of the standard vehicle registration procedures cost.

 

The amount returned by the simulator is for information purposes only. Only the amount shown on the vehicle registration document is valid.
 

The simulator cannot take into account specific situations related, in particular, to the vehicle's origin or its technical characteristics, as these require expertise to determine the amount of taxes to be paid.
 

In such cases, and once your online application has been received, only the Registration Department will be able to give you details of the amount of tax for the vehicle to be registered.
