If you move house, you have one month to change the address on your vehicle registration document.

 

Changing your address is free of charge, and involves affixing a label to your vehicle registration document.

If it’s the 4th change, a new vehicle registration document is sent at a cost of €2.76.

 

Only the registrant named on the vehicle registration document is entitled to make the request. 

If the vehicle is leased, it is up to the registrant to change the address.

If the application requires further verification, documents may be requested by the processing department such as:

  • The vehicle registration document (Carte Grise)
  • Proof of address less than 6 months old (rent receipt, gas, electricity, water, landline or mobile phone bill)
  • A valid identity document

    Logging in via an ANTS or France Connect account

    Once you have logged in to your space:

    • Click on the “New Request” button 
    • Select "Registration",
    • Select "Change the address of your vehicle registration document".

    Start the process
    • Enter the vehicle registration number
    • Fill in the new address with all the details (floor, residence, etc.)
    • Specify whether you are in possession of your vehicle registration document: if not, you will need to apply for a duplicate

    Confirming the process
    • Check the information in the process summary
    • Read and tick the legal conditions of use
    • Pay by credit card if this is the 4th change of address

A change of address is free unless:

  • This is your 4th change of address: €2.76
  • You have an old number plate (123 XX 50): €2.76

You should fix your situation as soon as possible, as you could be fined €135 if you are stopped.

  • When the vehicle is already registered in the SIV, following the declaration of a change of address if the vehicle is already registered in the SIV system, the user will receive a self-adhesive change-of-address label to affix to the vehicle registration certificate.

This allows users to keep their registration certificate, up to a limit of three change-of-address declarations for the same vehicle.
The user will receive this label by post, via mail.

 

  • If the vehicle is still registered under the old system, a new carte grise will be produced and sent by tracked letter.
