Report the sale and register a used vehicle in your own name:Simplimmat makes the process quicker and easier.
Anyone selling their vehicle to another individual must report the administrative transfer of their vehicle within 15 days after physically transferring it to the purchaser. This obligation under the National Highway Code protects the seller from being fined for offences committed by the buyer. The buyer is obliged to have a vehicle registration document (Carte Grise) issued in their own name within one month of the vehicle sale being reported.
The Simplimmat app makes it possible to carry out each of these administrative steps completely electronically, from a smartphone, provided that the seller and buyer are in each other's physical presence.
No paperwork needed. To report the administrative transfer of the vehicle and apply for a new vehicle registration document takes about just ten minutes, right as the keys are handed over. Responsibility for the vehicle is transferred immediately, and the buyer can apply for a new “Carte Grise” (vehicle registration document) straight away. That person will receive it 3 or 4 days later at home.
This requires the buyer and seller to be physically in each other's presence, in a location with 4G coverage, to have the vehicle registration document with them, and for both to have their smartphones with the app downloaded.
Better protection for buyers and sellers
The Simplimmat mobile app is meant to address the following situations:
- When the seller fails to report the transfer of the vehicle on the ANTS website, thereby preventing the transfer of registration to the buyer.
Until now, the seller had no choice but to do two separate things: Fill out and co-sign a paper Cerfa form with the buyer, and then reporting the sale via a dedicated online service on the ANTS website.
The Cerfa form is now coded into Simplimmat, and the transfer is reported officially and automatically once it has been approved by the seller and the buyer on the App.
The fact that the seller and the buyer carry out the formalities together, at the same time and in the physical presence of each other, also helps to avoid errors in entering information relating to the sale, which could lead to administrative logjams at a later date, particularly for the buyer when applying to register the vehicle in their name.
- Official status and compliance of the vehicle
Simplimmat allows you to view the vehicle's administrative status directly to check that it is compliant. This provides additional security for the buyer. If the vehicle’s official status is not in order, Simplimmat blocks the transfer of the vehicle. This gives the buyer confidence at the moment of the vehicle's physical transfer that it is not stolen and has not been pledged as collateral.
Trial period and roll-out
The Simplimmat mobile app was tested in 2021 in all the départements of the Centre Val de Loire and Normandy regions, as well as in the Yvelines. Its roll-out continued in 2022 in the Brittany and Ile-de-France regions. It is now available to all individuals residing in France who are selling or buying a French-registered vehicle.
